With over a decade of DJing, Jolie is regarded as one of the top female DJ's in the world. DJing in some of the UK's most prestigious clubs since 1995 and then she took her records to an international level in 1999. She is now a true international player and a huge hit where ever she spins her tunes.
Jolie Won the prestigious award for ‘Best DJ' at the UMA's in December 2003 and in March 2006 was voted one of the top 10 UK Female DJ's in the Top 100 Female DJ's poll and placing her at a very respectable 36th worldwide. November 1999 was Jolie's first international gig in Vienna, Austria. This set the ball rolling for a musical journey to France, Belgium, Spain, Amsterdam, Norway, Italy, USA, India, The Middle East and The Far East. Jolie has been a popular choice of DJ in Germany, playing regularly at some of the most exclusive parties in Mannheim, Munich and Hamburg. Jolie played an almighty set at a private party on a farm in the Desert of Wafra in Kuwait. Jolie is the first female DJ to ever play in Kuwait, and future bookings back in the city are not far off. 2006 was certainly an adventurous year for Jolie having been booked and played in Dubai, and then a following gig in Beirut, Lebanon. Jolie was caught up in the unfortunate events of the war in Lebanon in July, but she found friends in the guys from the BBC and they gave her plenty of exciting interviews with Radio 5 Live, BBC Essex amongst others to get on with. Jolie did manage to escape from the war zone on HMS Gloucester and is home safe and sound and continuing to drop beats, not bombs! Jolie's tough funky beats and sassy style is enough to get any dancefloor rockin' , anywhere in the world.
MySpace Find Jolie on MySpace.com/DJJolie The Monday Club After spending 5 loyal years on Shine the 2 more years on Centreforce, Jolie made the move to set up her own podcast radio show called The Monday Club. Every week Jolie hosts a show to air fresh House music to the masses with her 'fresh 5 downloads'. The show is pre recorded and played every Monday as a new episode each week. Listen here: The Monday Club History Born in Essex, England in 1977 as a proud Leo, I was influenced by all kinds of music. My parents sewed the soulful roots of Northern Soul and Motown, Al Green, Booker T & The MG's, Carla Thomas and Aretha Franklin in me and gave me the inspiration for the music I play today. Since the age of 10, possibly before, I always acted as the family party DJ. The thought of making people dance by playing records was so kool and I enjoyed the attention too. I bought my first album for 50 pence at a car boot sale and little did I know that it was a classic - Donna Summer 'I feel love'. It sparked the vinyl junkie in me and my record collection began. A lot of people influenced me to DJ. I used to go to local clubs and hear DJ's like Gareth Cooke and Tony Grimley at their resident night 'Culture Shock' and the 1994 Barbara Tucker anthem 'Beautiful People' always sticks out in my mind when I think of those nights. It was my best friend Jodie who put the thought in my head about becoming a DJ. She always said that there were so many men DJing and not enough Female DJs. We had heard of Smokin Jo, Lisa Loud and DJ Marie, but they were few and far between. I bought my Technic 1210's from a friend of a friend (I still have them now!) and taught myself to mix with the records that I would buy with my Saturday job money. I didn't know any DJ's back in 1994, so it took me a while. Once I could hold my mixes and DJ for an hour at least with no mistakes, I told everyone I was a DJ. I gave out my mixtapes to everyone including promoters and I started getting gigs in local clubs. My big moment came in 1995 when I DJ'd at Atlantis @ Epping Forest Country Club for 1,000 people. It was my first paid set, and I loved every minute of it! From then I DJ'd in London and soon all over Europe, Spain, Germany, Italy...... And also the world. Music has been a huge part of my life and still is. I continue to bring inspirational music to people all over the world, and my love for the music is shown in my sets. I hope one day you can enjoy the wonderful world of Jolie with me..... Radio
